Today in CPBL history (15th March 2001). Sinon Bulls 黃忠義 (Huang Chung-Yi) stole home in the 10th inning against Brother Elephants. He became the first Taiwanese player to stole home plate in CPBL.
黃忠義 (Huang Chung-Yi) also known as “The Infield Magician” was part of the Taiwanese silver medal team in the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics. Where he finished the tournament with 0.324 AVG, 8R 12H, 1HR over 9 games, 37 at bats. In 1993, Huang Chung-Yi joined Jungo Bears (Later became Sinon Bulls), where he spent the next 16 years as the team’s primary second baseman until his retirement in 2008. There another story during his time as Sinon Bulls manager. But we’ll leave that for another blog post.
After retiring from professional baseball. Huang is currently working as a coach for university baseball power house NTSU, at the same time as the baseball commentator for various sports network in Taiwan.
