The four CPBL teams have announced the schedule of their spring training camp for the 2018 season, the first phase of the training camp (pitchers and catchers only) is will start from 15th of January.
Pingtung county and Kaohsiung city, located in the sunny southern Taiwan will once again be the base of operation for most teams in 2018 spring training.
- Lamigo Monkeys – Pingtung baseball stadium for first phase, then to Ishigaki Island for exhibition games with NPB’s Chiba Lotte Marines. Shortly after that they’re off to Hokkaido to play against the Nippon-Ham Fighters.
- Chinatrust Brothers – Pingtung, Yanpu training facility, then to Tucson, Arizona. Expect to play against MLB minor league teams and other foreign teams.
- Uni-Lions – Somewhere in Pingtung. (TBA).
- Fubon Guardians – Kaohsiung, Yanchao training facility.
Change of Scenery, Going to Arizona
Chinatrust Brothers will have their first phase of the training camp at their Pingdung Yanpu facility. The second phase will kick off February 20th, where Brothers first team will head to Arizona, USA for three weeks.
“We will have a series of practice games against NPB, KBO and Dodgers, Brewers minor league teams while training in Arizona” Said Brothers GM.
The team is expected to return to Taiwan before the official CPBL warm up games on March 10th.
KBO in 2018 CPBL Spring Camp
The last few years, Taiwan have been one of the spring training destinations for a lot of KBO organisations (Total of 7 KBO teams in 2017). During their time in Taiwan, a series of practice games will be arranged against teams from CPBL and the industrial league.
