The massive drop in the 2020 attendance is due to the coronavirus pandemic. Although Taiwan never reached community spread and the country did not go into lockdown, there were some restrictions when it comes to fans attending the CPBL games.
As per CDC’s recommendation, the CPBL began the season with zero fans (33 games). After that, the league slowly increased the seating capacity from 1000 fans, 2000 fans to 50-78% seating capacity. [further reading: CPBL coronavirus timeline]
