Another dominating start from Lamigo Monkeys’ RHP Zeke Spruill. The former Diamondbacks uses 113 pitches, scatters 5-hit and strikes out 11 in a 10-0 shutout win against the Fubon Guardians.

Spruill has shown dominance against the Guardians lineup by being extremely aggressive pounding the strikezone with the high strike ratio of 70%. Among the 113 pitches, there are 57 pitches that exceeds 147 kph (91.3 mph), 13 pitches that blasts over 150 kph (93.2 mph), including 2 in the 9th inning.
After tonight’s performance, Spruill is now leading the league in Wins (4-0), SO (34) and ERA (1.34).

Not Zeke Spruill first tour in Asia
It has been an easy transition for Spruill since his signing with the CPBL. Spruill pitched for the KIA Tigers in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) with the annual salary of $700,000 USD in 2016 season. His performance has been solid in the beginning however ran into arm fatigue issue half way into the 2016 season. Spruill finished his 2016 season in the KBO with a record of 10 Wins, 5.27 ERA with an 147kph (91.8mph) average fastball.
Let’s talk about shutout game in CPBL
The last time Lamigo Monkey had a shutout game can be traced all the way back to 6th May 2014. Where former Seibu Lions pitcher 許銘傑 (Hsu Ming-Chieh) pitched a 4-hit shutout against Chinatrust Brothers.
The most recent shutout game in CPBL was 19th June 2016, when Uni-Lions’ 廖文揚 (Liao Wen-Yang) pitched 6-hit, 1 walk shutout against the EDA Rhinos (Fubon Guardians). That was the only shutout game in the entire 2016 season.
