Uni-Lions News: Héctor Pérez

On March 1, ETtoday reported that the Uni-Lions have signed 27-year-old Dominican right-hander Héctor Pérez. According to the team, Héctor Pérez is set to arrive in Taiwan in the next few days.

Héctor Pérez began his professional career with the Houston Astro system in 2015 and eventually made his MLB debut with the Blue Jays in 2020, where he pitched 1.2 innings and gave up 2 earned runs.

After spending the next several years in the minor league, Héctor Pérez received another shot in the Big League with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2023. However, his second tour of MLB was another short one, logging only 0.1 innings and allowing 1 earned run.

It is worth mentioning that in his 2023 Triple-A season, Héctor Pérez posted a 4.02 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over 65 innings. Although he has an eye-opening 11.4 K9 rate, it also came with a concerning 5.7 BB9 rate.

Prior to the signing with the Uni-Lions, Héctor Pérez was active in the Dominican Winter League, playing for the Tigres del Licey. He made five appearances and registered a 4.50 ERA and 1.83 WHIP over 6 innings of relief work.

As of today, the Uni-Lions have Logan Ondrusek, Brock Dykxhoorn, Mario Sanchez, Jake Kalish, Keyvius Sampson and Héctor Pérez as their foreign players for the 2024 CPBL season.
