Rakuten Monkeys News: Brandon Waddell
Done deal! Brandon Waddell is leaving the CPBL and heading back to the KBO for the remaining 2023 season.
On June 12, the Rakuten Monkeys announced that they had completed the contract transfer of Brandon Waddell with the Doosan Bears of the KBO.
According to the team, Brandon Waddell, the 29-year-old American left-hander, will start one more game in the CPBL before reporting to his new KBO team, the Doosan Bears, on June 16.
As of today, Brandon Waddell started 11 games for the Rakuten Monkeys in the 2023 CPBL season. He compiled a solid 2.69 ERA, 1.24 WHIP over 67 innings.
As per CPBL columnist Wang Yi-Hsuan, the Doosan Bears reportedly paid the Rakuten Monkeys around 100,000 USD to buy out Brandon Waddell’s CPBL contract. The Monkeys general told the media that their scouting team is currently in the process of finding a new foreign pitcher.
