Fubon Guardians News: Tyler Eppler

After being eliminated from the first half of the 2023 CPBL season, things are about to get even worse for the Fubon Guardians. On June 21, the Fubon Guardians announced the release of Tyler Eppler.

According to the team’s press release, Tyler Eppler has decided to terminate his contract early with the Guardians due to personal reasons and will return to the USA for other opportunities.

The 30-year-old American right-hander finished his 2023 CPBL season with a 2.89 ERA and 1.23 WHIP over 9 starts and 56 innings.

With Tyler Eppler leaving the team, the Fubon Guardians have started looking for a new foreign pitcher. The Guardians manager told the media that they are currently reviewing 5-6 potential foreign pitcher candidates from the Mexican League and the independent leagues.

Why Tyler Eppler Decides to Leave?

Taiwanese baseball columnist Wang Yi-Hsuan revealed on Twitter that because the Fubon Guardians signing Tyler Eppler to a half-season contract and he doesn’t want to remain in the farm team. Tyler Eppler believes his performance in the CPBL first-team is strong enough to secure another contract elsewhere, which is why he decided not to terminate his contract with the Guardians early.
