CPBL Announces 2020 MVP, ROY, Most Improved Player

Voted by members of the media, the CPBL announced the 2020 MVP, Rookie of the Year and the Most Improved Player of the Year awards on November 16 at the annual award ceremony.

2020 MVP: José De Paula

The CTBC Brothers’ left-hander José De Paula has been phenomenal this season. The 32-year-old Dominican posted a 3.20 ERA, 1.16 WHIP across 174.1 of work and ended up winning the 2020 CPBL pitching triple crown.

2020 Rookie of the Year: 林安可 (Lin An-Ko)

The Uni-Lions’ 林安可 (Lin An-Ko) pretty much have that Rookie of the Year award in his pocket two months into the regular season. The 23-year-old outfielder certainly made a strong first impression by slashing .310/.395/.590 and 139 wRC+ in his rookie season.

Apart from the Rookie of the Year award, he also took home the Home Run leader award (32), RBI leader award (99) and Best Ten award (OF).

2020 Most Improved Player: 鄭鈞仁 (Cheng Chun-Jen)

The Uni-Lions’ reliever 鄭鈞仁 (Cheng Chun-Jen) has been one of the go-to bullpen arms for his team this season. Over 63 appearances, he posted a 4.18 ERA, 1.57 WHIP over 60.1 innings.
