CPBL Foreign Players Updates Volume #322
Wei Chuan Dragons News: Drew Gagnon
On February 6, the Wei Chuan Dragons announced the signing of Tyler Eppler for the 2024 CPBL season. The 31-year-old American right-hander will return to Taiwan for his second tour of the CPBL.
Tyler Eppler previously pitched for the Fubon Guardians in 2023, where he posted a respectable 2.89 ERA and 1.23 WHIP over 9 starts and 56 innings.
However, towards the end of the 2023 first-half season, the Guardians announced the release of Tyler Eppler. According to the team, Eppler has decided to terminate his contract early for personal reasons and will pursue other opportunities elsewhere.
A few weeks after leaving the CPBL, Tyler Eppler landed a new contract in the Mexican League with the Sultanes de Monterrey. He finished the 2023 LMB season with a solid 4.23 ERA and 1.22 WHIP across 38.1 innings.
Leading up to his signing with the Dragons, during the 2023 off-season, Tyler Eppler was playing in the Dominican Winter League. He appeared 2 games and struck out 3 over 4 scoreless innings of work.
As of today, the Wei Chuan Dragons currently have Jasier Herrera, Bryan Woodall, Drew Gagnon and Tyler Eppler as their foreign players for the 2024 season.

Eppler must have realized there aren’t any better opportunities for him than the CPBL at this stage in his career.
I think so. Since he is a bit too old for KBO and NPB. And CPBL’s salary is higher than LMB, it make sense to come back to Taiwan to begin the 2024 season.
