CPBL Foreign Players Updates Volume #300
TSG Hawks News: Jack Fox
On October 10, Jack Fox announced on his Instagram that he had signed a contract with the TSG Hawks to play in the upcoming 2023 Asia Winter Baseball League (CPBL Winter League).
“I’m beyond excited to spend the winter playing with the TSG Hawks in Kaohsiung, Taiwan,” said Jack Fox on his social media.
The 26-year-old American has never played in the MLB system but has been active in the American Association, pitching for the Kane County Cougars since 2021.
During the 2022-23 offseason, Jack Fox went down under to play for the Melbourne Aces in the Australian Baseball League. He posted a 5.28 ERA over 29 innings of work.
In 2023, Jack Fox once again returned to the American Association and compiled a respectable 4.05 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 100 innings. It is worth noting that the American Association has a league-average ERA of 4.92.
The TSG Hawks GM told TSNA that they are hoping to bring in around four foreign players for this upcoming 2023 CPBL Winter League.
“Our young pitching staff has already played for almost a full season of baseball. Therefore, we need additional manpower, especially pitchers, to share the workload in this winter league,” said the Hawks GM, Liu Dong-Yang.
The Hawks coaching staff will monitor and evaluate their performance closely, and if they are good enough, they will be considered as potential foreign pitcher candidates for the 2024 CPBL season.
