CPBL Foreign Players Updates Volume #340
Rakuten Monkeys News: Suzuki Shunsuke
On August 6, the Rakuten Monkeys released Suzuki Shunsuke (鈴木駿輔). The 26-year-old Japanese right-hander finished his 2024 CPBL season with a 5.55 ERA and a 1.75 WHIP over 48.2 innings.
According to the Monkeys’ farm director, although Suzuki Shunsuke has displayed signs of improvement in his past few outings, the team noticed he tends to run into trouble when his pitch count exceeds 80.
With the release of Suzuki Shunsuke, the Monkeys have registered and added Matthew Kent to the active roster. Kent, a 31-year-old American left-hander, is currently active in the Monkeys’ farm team, where he has compiled a 2.27 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP over 35.2 innings in the CPBL minor league.
As of today, the Rakuten Monkeys have Pedro Fernández, Manny Bañuelos, Marcelo Martinez, and Matthew Kent as their foreign players.
