CPBL Foreign Players Updates Volume #345
Rakuten Monkeys News: Manny Bañuelos
On August 18, the Rakuten Monkeys announced the release of Manny Bañuelos. In the press release, the team thanks him for his contribution to this season and wishes him all the best in the future.
Despite two solid seasons in 2020 and 2021 with the Fubon Guardians, which eventually earned him a return to MLB in 2022, Manny Bañuelos’ third stint in Taiwan didn’t go as planned. The 33-year-old Mexican left-hander finished the 2024 CPBL season with a subpar 4.14 ERA and an alarming 1.62 WHIP over 84.2 innings.
With the release of Manny Bañuelos, the Rakuten Monkeys now have Pedro Fernández, Marcelo Martinez, Matthew Kent and Luke Westphal as their foreign players.

Further Readings
Foreign players come and go. Therefore, we have compiled a tracker to monitor all foreign player signings for the 2024 CPBL season.
I won’t be surprised if Manny pitches another five to eight years in Mexico.
