CPBL Foreign Players Updates Volume #441
Fubon Guardians News: Yamazaki Seigi
On July 7, the Fubon Guardians announced the signing of Yamazaki Seigi (山崎正義) to a development contract. The 23-year-old Japanese right-hander has already arrived in Taiwan and reported to the team.
According to the Guardians, they believe Yamazaki Seigi has plenty of potential and hope to further develop him through the team’s player development system, with the goal of strengthening the team’s future pitching depth.
Yamazaki Seigi never played in NPB. After graduating from high school in 2022, he joined Japan’s independent league, the Shikoku Island League Plus, where he spent the next 5 seasons with the Tokushima Indigo Socks. During that time, Yamazaki Seigi established himself as one of the team’s top relievers.
Before signing with the Fubon Guardians, Yamazaki Seigi made 21 appearances in the Shikoku Island League Plus this season, posting a 1.35 ERA across 46.2 innings.
With the signing of Yamazaki Seigi, the the Fubon Guardians currently have Suzuki Shunsuke, Shawn Morimando, Aaron Wilkerson, Abe Yudai and Quinton Martinez as their group of foreign players for the 2026 season.
