CPBL Foreign Players Updates Volume #286
Fubon Guardians News: Ryan Weiss
On August 4, the High Point Rockers of the Atlantic League revealed on Facebook that the Fubon Guardians have purchased the contract of Ryan Weiss.
The 26-year-old American right-hander began his professional career in 2018 with the Arizona Diamondbacks system and reached Triple-A in 2021. Over the next few years, Ryan Weiss spent most of his time between Double-A and Triple-A. In three Triple-A seasons, he compiled a 6.72 ERA and 1.79 WHIP over 89.2 innings.
In May 2023, Rayn Weiss was left the MLB system and joined the Atlantic League. Prior to his signing with the Fubon Guardians, Weiss posted a 4.61 ERA and 1.35 WHIP over 54.2 innings with the High Point Rockers.
As of today, the Fubon Guardians currently have Enderson Franco, Tanner Anderson, Matthew Kent, Stephen Woods Jr and Ryan Weiss as their foreign pitchers. With the August 31 Trade Deadline approaching, the Guardians would have to set their final four foreign players for the remaining of the 2023 CPBL season.

Further Readings
Foreign players comes and goes, therefore we compiled a foreign players tracker to keep track of all the foreign players signing for the 2023 CPBL season.
Weiss wasn’t on my radar at all. However, he’s young, has AAA experience and appears to have a live arm, if some control problems.
I really like the age, only 26! Maybe the Guardians will use this season to give him some seasoning, let him get used to the CPBL and then bring him back for 2024?
