CPBL Foreign Players Updates Volume #291
Fubon Guardians News: Tanner Anderson
On August 16, the Fubon Guardians announced the release of Tanner Anderson.
According to the team, the 30-year-old American right-hander asked to be let go so he could pursue other opportunities and hopefully get back to the MLB system.
“The team appreciate all the contributions and efforts of Tanner Anderson during his two seasons in Taiwan. And we wish him all the best in the future,” said the Fubon Guardians via press release.
Tanner Anderson finished his 2023 CPBL season with a 3.38 ERA and 1.22 WHIP over 61.1 innings.
Further Readings
Foreign players comes and goes, therefore we compiled a foreign players tracker to keep track of all the foreign players signing for the 2023 CPBL season.
Leaving the CPBL doesn’t seem like best decision from a professional standpoint, since Anderson is now age 30 and may find it difficult to work his way back to the MLB minors. My guess is that he’s got family that he’s missing playing in Taiwan.
I think so, also maybe the Guardians only signed him until August 31 (Trade Deadline). So, it is a good time to leave and not extend the contract. I can see another CPBL team bring back Tanner Anderson for next year.
