CPBL Foreign Players Updates Volume #372
CTBC Brothers News: Daniel Mengden
On January 23, ETtoday reported that the CTBC Brothers have re-signed Daniel Mengden for the 2025 CPBL season. The 31-year-old American right-hander will return for his second season in Taiwan.
Daniel Mengden had an outstanding 2024 season. In 25 starts, he posted a 2.86 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP. While his 3.57 FIP, 17.8 K%, 6.7 BB%, and 18.7 Whiff% were only slightly above average, he made up for it with his ability to pitch deep into games. Mengden logged a total of 154 innings, making him the highest on the team and second in the league.
During the postseason, Daniel Mengden started Game 2 of the 2024 Taiwan Series but took the loss after allowing six runs over five innings against the Uni-Lions.
With the re-signing of Daniel Mengden, the CTBC Brothers now have Kirk McCarty and José De Paula as their foreign players. Rumours suggest that the Brothers are currently in talks with Humberto Castellanos (new).
