Record-Breaking Nights for Teng Chih-Wei

It was a record night for the Uni-Lions’ first baseman 鄧志偉 (Teng Chih-Wei), as the slugger set a CPBL record with 16 total bases in a game. It is also worth mentioning that Teng tied the record for collecting six hits in a single game.

“It’s the first time in my life that I have hit three home runs in a single game,” said Teng Chih-Wei in the post-game MVP interview. “I want to dedicate this to my wife’s grandfather, who was a big fan of mine but unfortunately passed away a few weeks ago.”

Teng Chih-Wei met the fan who was kind enough to return his home run ball.

New CPBL Record: 16 Total Bases

Teng finished the night with three home runs, one double and two singles with 16 total bases. The power hitter broke the previous CPBL total bases record (15) which was set by the Sinon Bulls’ Jay Kirkpatrick in 1998.

Tied CPBL Record: 6 Hits in a Game

Double, home run, home run, single, home run, and single. This is an example of how hot Teng’s bat was last night. Apart from setting the total bases record, Teng Chih-Wei also tied the CPBL record for most hit in a single game.

Other CPBL Players with a 6-Hit Game

Teng Chih-Wei will join the Monkeys’ 林智平 (Lin Chih-Ping) and the Uni-Lions’ 羅國龍 (Lo Kuo-Lung) for having six hits in a single game.
