G6 Game Notes

Despite facing Jose De Paula, the 2020 CPBL pitching triple crown winner and the Brothers’ iron bullpen, the Uni-Lions lineup stepped up and demolished the Brothers pitching staff.

The Uni-Lions began the game with two back-to-back singles followed by veteran Pan Wu-Hsiung’s clutch 2-RBI double. The Uni-Lions quickly jumped on board with an early 2-0 lead.

Bottom of the third, the CTBC Brothers answered back with a leadoff double and a defensive error by the Uni-Lions to narrow the deficit to 1-2.

Top of the fifth, the veterans of the Uni-Lions once again proved their worth within the organisation. With a runner on base, the 37-year-old third baseman Chen Yung-Chi crushed a 2-run shot to the left-centre and extended the lead to 4-1.

Fast forward to the top of the eighth. The CTBC Brothers’ bullpen suddenly lost their command issued a total of six walks. The Uni-Lions took the opportunity and capitalised on it. They added some extra paddings to the scoreboard by sending 13 batters to the plate and scored eight runs.

The Uni-Lions’ starting pitcher Tim Melville went seven innings, allowed only one unearned run and struck out six. The relievers Fu Yu-Kang and Pan Wei-Lun each pitched a scoreless inning to secure the victory for the Uni-Lions.
