TSG Hawks News: Wilmer Font
On August 8, TSNA reported that the TSG Hawks had signed 36-year-old Venezuelan right-hander Wilmer Font. At the time, the Hawks’ general manager declined to comment on the rumour but revealed that they had indeed signed a new foreign pitcher with previous experience in an Asian league.
Fast forward to August 21, and the TSG Hawks officially announced the signing of Wilmer Font, telling the media that he had already reported to the team.
“My last game was 2 weeks ago. My condition is good, and I’ll be ready for the CPBL 1st team after 1 more bullpen session and a tune-up game in the minor league,” Wilmer Font told TSNA.
Wilmer Font began his professional career in the Texas Rangers organisation in 2007 and quickly made his MLB debut in 2012. Over the next several years, he bounced between the Major and Minor Leagues, eventually compiling a 5.82 ERA and 1.47 WHIP over 151.2 innings with the Rangers, Dodgers, A’s, Rays, Mets, and Blue Jays.
Between 2011 and 2012, Wilmer Font was active in the KBO, playing for the SSG Landers. During his time in Korea, he was considered one of the league’s top pitchers, posting a 3.03 ERA and 1.01 WHIP over 329.2 innings.
After leaving the KBO, Wilmer Font was away from baseball for almost 2 years while recovering from minor surgery on his right shoulder. He eventually returned to the mound in 2025 and has been pitching in the Mexican League since then.
Prior to signing with the TSG Hawks, Wilmer Font was pitching for the Saraperos de Saltillo, where he posted a 4.91 ERA and 1.44 WHIP over 88 innings. It’s worth noting that he also led the LMB in strikeouts in the 2026 season with 100 strikeouts.
