Career Tracker: Taiwan’s 2010 U-18 National Team

With Taiwan recently won gold at the 2019 WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup. We figured it would be fun to look up Taiwanese U-18 team from 2010 which also won gold in the U-18 Baseball World Cup that year.

We figured it would be fun to look up another U-18 World Champion team from Taiwan which also won gold at the 2010 Baseball World Cup. 

How many players ended up turning pro? How are they doing with their professional career? After winning the 2010 U-18 Baseball World Cup, where are they now?

13 out of 20 players from that 2010 junior national team ended up turning professional and active in the MLB, NPB and the CPBL system. Two of the most notable players are Lin Tzu-Wei and Wang Wei-Chung, both of them are currently active on the Major League level.

Those that did not turn pro mostly ended up playing in Taiwan’s semi-pro industrial league or just stopped playing baseball after university.

Notes: There are a few big names from that 2010 U-18 Baseball World Cup. Just to name a few: Francisco Lindor, Albert Almora, Jorge Soler, Michael Lorenzen and Lance McCullers.
