CPBL Foreign Players Updates Volume #148
Rakuten Monkeys News: Ryan Bollinger
On December 15, the Rakuten Monkeys announced the signing of Ryan Bollinger.
The 29-year-old hard-throwing lefty began his CPBL career with the Fubon Guardians in 2019 as a mid-season signing. He finished that year with a solid 4.31 ERA, 1.31 WHIP over 108.2 innings.
It is worth noting, Bollinger led the league with a 27 K% (starting pitchers only). Should he stayed for the full season, he would have been the strikeout leader in 2019.

In 2020, the Guardians re-signed Ryan Bollinger, but he did not pitch a single inning in the first-team due to injury. According to Liberty Sports, Bollinger sustained a hairline fracture in his foot during spring training.
Eventually, he was cleared by the doctor and began his rehab assignment in the farm league on June 2. However, he immediately hurt his foot again in a defensive play which led to him being released by the Guardians before the trade deadline.
