Rakuten Monkeys News: Kyle Marman

On 24 December, the Rakuten Monkeys announced the signing of Kyle Marman for the 2026 CPBL season. According to the team, the 28-year-old American right-hander is expected to arrive in Taiwan around mid-February.

The Monkeys stated that during the evaluation process, they placed significant emphasis on Kyle Marman’s durability and the quality of his pitches, believing he would be a strong fit for the team’s rotation. Negotiation progressed quite smoothly, and both sides were able to reach an agreement quickly.

Kyle Marman was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in 2018 and remained within the Indians, later Guardians, system until 2023. During that period, he spent most of his time at the Double-A level, with two very brief stint in Triple-A where he logged just 7 innings.

After leaving the MLB system, Kyle Marman pitched in the American Association during the 2024 and 2025 seasons with the Sioux City Explorers. In 2025, he firmly established himself as the team’s ace and one of the league’s top pitchers. Across 19 starts, he posted a solid 3.07 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP over 123 innings. Notably, he also set the Sioux City Explorers’ all-time single-season strikeout record with 140 strikeouts.

Prior to signing with the Rakuten Monkeys, Kyle Marman made a brief appearance in the Puerto Rican Winter League, where he pitched just 0.1 inning.
