Monkeys 2nd Team Renamed to Haiwo HomeRun

Meet the “newest” CPBL farm team, the “HAIWO HOMERUN”!

On March 24, the Rakuten Monkeys announced that they sold their farm team naming rights to Haiwo Estate Creative Marketing. Starting the 2023 CPBL minor league season, the Monkeys’ farm team will be known as Haiwo HomeRun.

According to NOWnews, the farm team naming rights deal is worth roughly 100,000 to 167,000 USD. The Rakuten Monkeys organisation did not confirm nor deny that rumour.

“Taiwan’s professional baseball market has flourished in recent years, and I am grateful to Haiwo Marketing for being willing to inject more resources into the industry,” said the Rakuten Monkeys general manager.

“I didn’t know that it is possible to sell the farm team naming rights. I was shocked when I heard the news,” said the Monkeys farm team manager. “With additional resources, it can definitely help the farm team, and we will do our best to win the Future Series Championship.”

This is not the first time a CPBL organisation has had two different team names for their Major and Minor league team.

Back in 2011, the Lamigo Monkeys decided to use the La New Bears as the name of their farm team. It is worth mentioning that both Lamigo and La New belong to the same parent company.
