Guardians sign former Dodgers/ Uni-Lions Kuo Hong-Chih

Fubon Guardians have announced the signing of former Los Angeles Dodgers / Uni-Lions power LHP 郭泓志 (Kuo Hong-Chih).  According to the local media, Kuo’s new contract with the Guardians is $120,000 USD along with $50,000 USD as incentives.

Kuo Hong-Chih returns to CPBL once again

After underwent his 7th surgery in his professional career in 2016.  Uni-Lions have decided not to extend Kuo’s contract.  In 2017, Kuo was signed and invited to San Diego Padres spring training.  Despite pitching 3 scoreless innings in spring camp, Kuo have decided to come back to Taiwan in the end.

I was offered to stay for extended spring training with the Padres, however I felt I was unable to contribute to the team with my current condition, and that’s why I left the Padres” Said Kuo in an interview about leaving the Padres spring camp.

Since returning to Taiwan, Kuo has been training with the Guardians farm league.  In his recent game against Lamigo Monkeys farm team, Kuo pitched a scoreless inning with his fastball topping at 147kph

We expect to promote Kuo to the top team this weekend, he most likely will be used as reliever in the 6th and 7th inning” Said Guardians’ skipper.
