Guardians Farm Team Pitching Coach: Bruce Billings
Welcome back to Taiwan Bruce Billings! On December 15, the former CPBL foreign pitcher Bruce Billings announced on his Facebook that he accepted a coaching job with the Fubon Guardians.
Shortly after the announcement, the Fubon Guardians confirmed the signing. According to the team, Bruce Billings will be the pitching coach for the Guardians’ farm team.
“In the past, Bruce Billings was always happy to share his experience and provide recommendations to our younger players,” said the Guardians GM. “Despite the language barrier, he would use charts and drawing to help them understand.”
Bruce Billings pitched for the Uni-Lions from 2016 to 2017, in those two seasons, he posted a combined record of 4.77 ERA and 1.51 WHIP over 56 starts and 315 innings. It is also worth mentioning he won the 2016 CPBL strikeout title with 172 strikeouts.
After two successful seasons with the Uni-Lions, he signed with the Fubon Guardians in 2018. However, it did not pan out for him. Billings finished his 2018 season with a disappointing 5.72 ERA and 1.62 WHIP over 102.1 innings.
Since 2019, the Bruce Billings has been working as a minor league pitching coach for the Philadelphia Phillies system.
