Fubon Guardians News: Tyler Ivey
On August 13, broadcaster Wang Yi-Hsuan revealed on social media that a CPBL team in northern Taiwan was nearing a deal with Tyler Ivey. Fast forward to August 21, and the Fubon Guardians announced the signing of 30-year-old American right-hander Tyler Ivey. According to the team, they were impressed by Ivey’s durability and high strikeout rate.
Tyler Ivey began his professional career in 2017 with the Houston Astros organisation and was called up to the Major Leagues in 2021. During his brief stint in the Majors, he posted a 7.71 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 4.2 innings.
Due to ongoing injuries and burnout, Tyler Ivey decided to hang up his cleats in 2022 and became a salesman. After taking a few years away from baseball, he eventually made his way back to the MLB system in 2025, spending the entire season with the Astros’ Triple-A affiliate and compiling a 5.83 ERA and 1.63 WHIP over 122 innings.
In 2026, Tyler Ivey was active in the Mexican League, pitching for the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos. In over 78.1 innings of work, he posted a 5.74 ERA and 1.54 WHIP with 85 strikeouts.
