CPBL Foreign Players Updates Volume #386
Fubon Guardians News: Suzuki Shunsuke
On 9 May, the Fubon Guardians announced the signing of Suzuki Shunsuke (鈴木駿輔) for the 2025 season. The 26-year-old Japanese right-hander will begin his second stint in the CPBL, having previously pitched for the Rakuten Monkeys in 2024.
According to the Guardians, Suzuki Shunsuke will start the 2025 season in the CPBL minor league.
Suzuki Shunsuke first joined the league in 2024 with the Rakuten Monkeys. In over ten appearances, he recorded a 5.55 ERA and a 1.75 WHIP across 48.2 innings before being released mid-season.
After leaving the CPBL system, rather than returning to Japan, Suzuki Shunsuke remained in Taiwan and joined local semi-professional team XPORTS in the industrial league.
Before signing with the Fubon Guardians, Suzuki Shunsuke took part in the industrial league’s spring tournament, where he pitched in six games and registered 21 strikeouts.
With the signing of Suzuki Shunsuke, the Fubon Guardians now have Roenis Elías, Shawn Morimando, Enderson Franco, Rio Gomez (elbow injury), Negishi Ryo (development contract), Ninomiya Isaki (development contract) and David Buchanan as their foreign players.

Foreign players come and go. Therefore, we have compiled a foreign player tracker, and I’ll be updating that list regularly to keep pace with the ever-changing roster shuffle throughout the 2025 CPBL season.
