Fubon Guardians News: Matthew Kent
On January 27, the Fubon Guardians announced the signing of 30-year-old American left-hander Matthew Kent. According to the team, all foreign players are expected to report to the team in early February.
Matthew Kent began his professional career in 2015 within the Boston Red Sox system. He never reached the major but peaked at Triple-A.
Last year, he spent the entire season with the Miami Marlins’ Triple-A team. In over 28 games, he logged a 4.99 ERA and 1.42 WHIP across 144.1 innings of work.
According to the scouting report on Sox Prospects, Matthew Kent throws a fastball, cutter, changeup and slider. He is a crafty lefty that throws a lot of strikes.
- Fastball – 85-87 mph (tops out at 89 mph)
- Cutter – 83.85 mph
- Slider – 77-81 mph
- Changeup – 76-80 mph
As of today, the Fubon Guardians have Enderson Franco, Tyler Eppler, Tanner Anderson and Matthew Kent as their foreign pitchers.
