CPBL Foreign Players Updates Volume #398
Fubon Guardians News: Enderson Franco
On August 11, the Fubon Guardians announced the release of Enderson Franco. The 32-year-old Venezuelan right-hander finished his 2025 CPBL season with a 1.90 ERA and 1.08 WHIP over 42.2 innings as a reliever.
“It was a very difficult decision for us. Enderson Franco has made many contributions to the team over the years, but at this stage, we need starting pitchers to take on more innings and ease the pressure on our bullpen,” the Guardians manager told ETtoday.
After the game, the Guardians held a special farewell ceremony for fans to say goodbye to Enderson Franco.
“The past four years in Taiwan have been a very important part of my professional career, and I thank Fubon for giving me the opportunity to experience different cultures and styles of play,” said Enderson Franco. “I also want to thank my teammates and fans for the care they have shown me and my family over the years.”
During his farewell speech, Enderson Franco revealed that he hopes to return to the CPBL in the future, this time as a starting pitcher. He noted that in his 16-year career, 12 years have been spent as a starter, and he believes that with time to adjust, there would be no problem transitioning back to that role.
“I will leave with my head held high. This is not retirement, just a temporary farewell,” Enderson Franco said to UDN.
From 2022 to 2025, Enderson Franco made 189 relief appearances in the CPBL, recording 35 saves, 50 holds, a 1.86 ERA, a 0.99 WHIP, and 212 strikeouts over 218 innings.
With the departure of Enderson Franco, the Guardians now have Roenis Elías, Shawn Morimando, David Buchanan and Suzuki Shunsuke as their foreign players.
