CTBC Brothers News: Kyle Tyler
On 15 December, broadcaster Wang Yi-Hsuan revealed on social media that the CTBC Brothers have signed 28-year-old American right-hander Kyle Tyler for the 2026 CPBL season.
The CTBC Brothers later confirmed the news, telling the media that they have reached an agreement with Kyle Tyler. An official announcement will be made at a later date once the remaining details are finalised.
Kyle Tyler began his professional career in the Los Angeles Angels system in 2018 and quickly made his MLB debut in 2021. Between 2021 and 2024, he bounced between nine different organisations and moved frequently between MLB and Triple-A. During that span, he posted a 4.31 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP over 48 MLB innings across three seasons, appearing for the Angels, Padres, and Marlins.
In 2025, Tyler spent most of his time at the Triple-A level in the International League. He recorded a 4.86 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP over 92.2 innings while pitching in the White Sox, Phillies, and Orioles systems. To give a little additional context, the 2025 International League had a league average of 4.67 ERA and 1.43 WHIP.
Leading up to his signing with the CTBC Brothers, Kyle Tyler was active during the 2025 offseason, pitching in the Mexican Winter League for the Algodoneros de Guasave. Across seven appearances, he posted a strong 1.83 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP over 34.1 innings.
With the signing of Kyle Tyler, the CTBC Brothers now have Mario Sanchez (2-year deal), José De Paula (re-signed already?) and Nivaldo Rodriguez as their current group of foreign players.
Note: Regarding to José De Paula, while the Brothers have not specifically confirmed the signing, but there are reports from plenty of media stating the team have already extended his contract.
