CTBC Brothers News: Angel Macuare
On March 19, the CTBC Brothers announced the signing of Angel Macuare for the 2026 CPBL season. The 26-year-old Venezuelan right-hander has already arrived in Taiwan and reported to spring training camp.
According to the team, Angel Macuare is expected to travel to Mexico with the CTBC Brothers’ minor league team to compete in the 2026 Baseball Champions League Americas from March 24 to 29.
Angel Macuare began his professional career in the Houston Astros system in 2016. Although he never reached the Major Leagues, he peaked at Triple-A. Over two seasons at that level (2023-24), he posted a 5.85 ERA and a 1.53 WHIP across 60 innings.
His final season in affiliated baseball came in 2025, when he recorded a 5.82 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP over 21.2 innings in Double-A, which ultimately led to his midseason release.
A few weeks after leaving the MLB system, Angel Macuare signed with the Sioux City Explorers of the American Association. In 8 games, he logged 34 innings with a 4.24 ERA.
Prior to joining the CTBC Brothers, Angel Macuare played in the Venezuelan Winter League, where he posted a 3.79 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP over 40.1 innings.
With the signing of Angel Macuare, the CTBC Brothers currently have Mario Sanchez (2-year deal), José De Paula, Nivaldo Rodriguez, Kyle Tyler and Nick Nelson as their group of foreign players for the 2026 season.
