CTBC Brothers News: Nick Nelson
On May 26, the CTBC Brothers released Nick Nelson. The 30-year-old American right-hander finished the 2026 CPBL season with a 4.91 ERA and a 1.70 WHIP over 29.1 innings.
According to the team, Nick Nelson had been sidelined since early May due to elbow discomfort. Further medical examinations later revealed a sprained ligament in his right elbow, which is expected to require at least two months of recovery. To fill the gap in the rotation, the Brothers have added Félix Peña to their active foreign player roster.
Nick Nelson had a rocky start to the season, allowing 10 runs over his first eight innings while issuing five walks across his first two appearances. He eventually settled down and showed that he could still perform as a starter at a reasonable level.
Despite posting a respectable 25.4 Whiff%, along with an average 14.7 K%, his command remained fairly inconsistent. That ultimately led to an 11 BB% and a 4.94 FIP, placing him near the lower end of the league percentile rankings.
With the release of Nick Nelson, the CTBC Brothers currently have Mario Sanchez (2-year deal), José De Paula, Nivaldo Rodriguez, Kyle Tyler, Angel Macuare and Félix Peña as their group of foreign players for the 2026 season.

Foreign players come and go. Therefore, we have compiled a foreign player tracker, and I’ll be updating that list regularly to keep pace with the ever-changing roster shuffle throughout the 2026 CPBL season.
