CPBL Foreign Players Updates Volume #180
CTBC Brothers News: Mitch Lively
On July 22, the CTBC Brothers have released Mitch Lively. The 35-year-old right-hander finished his 2021 CPBL season with a disappointing 8.35 ERA and 1.88 WHIP over 36.2 innings.
Earlier today, Mitch Lively showed up at the Taichung Intercontinental Stadium to say goodbye to his teammates.
“We thank Mitch Lively for all his contributions in the past few seasons,” said the Brothers manager.
“I may forget a lot of things, but I will never forget my time playing in Taiwan,” said Mitch Lively. “I want to thank the coaches and my teammates for treating me like a brother in the past four years.”
The CTBC Brothers signed Mitch Lively back in the 2018 season. In a short amount of time, he settled in as the Brothers’ ace. From 2018 to 2020, he posted a solid 3.66 ERA across 366 innings.
Because of his on-field performance and friendly personality to fans off the field, Mitch Lively quickly became one of the fan favourite foreign players in the CPBL.

CTBC Brothers News: Evan Grills
After the CTBC Brothers parted ways with Mich Lively, the team added Evan Grills to the active roster. This means the Brothers will be able call up Evan Grills if needed.
The 29-year-old Canadian left-hander joined the Brothers back in late April. Shortly after he completed his mandatory quarantine, the CPBL season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Further Readings
Foreign players come and goes, therefore we compiled a foreign players tracker to keep track of all the foreign players signing for the 2021 CPBL season.
It sounds like getting rid of Lively should be an addition by subtraction sadly enough. Any potential foreign players that could be signed on as depth for the Brothers? Also, what are the rumors saying about who the Guardians will sign as a foreign player replacement?
Hopefully Lively can find another gig elsewhere. He is a really good guy.
As for potential Brothers signing, apparently they were pretty close to singing someone but the season was suspended and with border restrictions, they couldn’t get the player over.
For the Guardians, rumour right now one of their player is Dylan Unsworth.
Probably can expect to see a lot more export out of the Mexican League too. I believe the LMB season is almost done.
Edwin Jackson who is representing USA in the Tokyo Olympic could be a good choice. Location wise would be perfect too, guy is in Japan already, pretty close to Taiwan.
