CTBC Brothers Sold $4.3M Merchandise in 2021
On March 15, the CTBC Brothers’ team owner Jeffrey Koo Jr told the Commonwealth Magazine that the team recorded a 4.3 million USD in merchandise revenue from the 2021 CPBL season.
According to the Brothers general manager Liu Chih-Wei, the team’s merchandise revenue went from $1.3M in 2016 to $4.3M in 2021.
“Due to the coronavirus pandemic, many fans couldn’t attend the games in person, but despite that, the Brothers merchandise was selling like hotcakes,” said the Brothers GM.
Beats 2021 Merchandise Revenue Target by 65%
In April 2021, at the re-opening ceremony of the Brothers’ retail store, the team told the media that they set an annual merchandise revenue target at $2.67 million.
With the extra boost in sales from winning the 2021 Taiwan Series, the team ended up shattering the 2021 merchandise revenue target by 65%.
As per TSNA’s report from December 2021, the Brothers sold more than 500,000 USD worth of championship merchandise in less than five hours.
